Who we are
Brandwells Construction Co Ltd was founded by the present Executive Chairman Andy Dowden in 1973. We have since grown to become one of the most highly regarded groundworks contractors in the South West and South Wales, handling contracts worth more than £55 million annually. Our current Board of Directors are all long-term employees who have been invited to join the Board over the years, some are also now shareholders in the Company, demonstrating our core belief in meritocracy, which extends right though the Company. We have recently promoted one of our groundworks operatives to the position of Safety Officer after he received the appropriate training.
Our employees
We employ over 300 site operatives supported by a site staff of Engineers, Contracts Managers, Engineering Manager and a Health & Safety team. Based in our Bristol office we have a Technical, Estimating, Surveying, Buying and administrative support team of 43 people, including the Directors, the majority of our staff have been with the Company for many years.
What we do
Activities include, new housing Infrastructure, house foundations, earthworks and reinforced concrete construction. Most projects are within a 50-mile radius of our Bristol (head) office, although we have now opened up a satellite office near Exeter to cover the ‘Southern Region’ (covering an area north of Plymouth to Bridgwater). We work for most of the major housebuilders and developers including – Redrow Homes, Barratt Homes, Crest, Vistry Partnerships, Bellway Plc, Redcliffe Homes, Newland Homes, Bloor Homes, Taylor Wimpey, Acorn Developments and others. We pride ourselves on our Customer Service which very often gives us Preferred Contractor status when our clients are considering contract appointments, due to our reputation for openness and fair dealing and our dedication to quality, training and health & safety. We have also developed in-house systems to help our clients deliver Value for Money by helping them to re-engineer their design proposals.
